White Guilt is having a week.

The film is out, people are talking, and Eli has plenty to say about what’s happening now.

Let’s talk White Guilt.

Eli Steele’s new documentary, featuring his father Shelby Steele, is out now — and the conversation around it has gotten interesting fast.

Megyn Kelly called it a “MUST-SEE DOC.” Mark Levin said, “I strongly recommend you watch this documentary.” Christian Toto called it “a slow burn that becomes a raging inferno.”

Oh, and the film has been out for less than a week. There have already been protests.

The film is based on Shelby’s 2006 book of the same name and asks a simple question: how did an effort to move past racism leave so much of American life even more consumed by race?

Eli puts it this way: “White guilt is the most important story no one is telling honestly. Not Marxism. Not woke ideology. Not suicidal empathy. Those are symptoms. White guilt is the disease that allows these other ideologies and behaviors to take hold.”

And right now, a lot of the news is running directly into that argument.

There’s more below, but if you’re already interested in talking with Eli about the film, reach out to Sarah directly at sarah@917strategies.com.

A few places Eli can take the conversation:

Here’s just a snippet of what they’ve been doing:

They joined Mark Levin for a deeper conversation about White Guilt, Shelby’s work over the last several decades, and why the argument feels especially relevant right now.

Shelby and Eli sat down with Megyn Kelly for a wide-ranging conversation about Ferguson, race, the civil rights movement, and the ideas at the center of the film.

Eli had a big opinion piece in Fox News about what he calls the “terror” of being called racist and how fear of the accusation itself has changed the way Americans speak, debate, and make decisions.

And another from Eli at Fox, this time looking at the chaos in France––its schools, social unrest, and what happens when guilt and race begin shaping public policy. Could that start happening here in the States?

Columnist Bill McGurn also brought Shelby, Eli, and the film into the Wall Street Journal this week, taking the argument to one of the country’s biggest opinion pages.

Christian Toto, a veteran Hollywood critic, reviewed the film and argues that its central premise deserves a serious hearing right now.
